Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 7 March 1988. Soil discusses his experiences growing up in Chicago, Illinois including his family life, religious activities, and contact with whites. He describes his conversion to the Mormon Church and its impact on his marriage and family. He also talks about the experiences of black Mormons in the Chicago area.
